Assessment and Treatment

While we enjoy treating a diverse patient population, we especially enjoy the assessment and treatment of athletes. Sports place demands on our bodies and can lead to injury. Understanding the unique biomechanics of various sports, whether it is the phases of running gait, the forces acting on the shoulder and elbow during throwing, or the proper mechanics of the hip hinge during the dead lift or kettlebell swings, enable us to tailor treatment and rehab plans designed specifically to your endeavor.

In addition to understanding biomechanics, knowledge of injuries that affect runners, throwing athletes, tennis players, bike riders, golfers, soccer players, cross fitters, football players, swimmers, rock climbers, and many other types of athletes, will enable us to treat accurately treat these various conditions. Whether you are dealing with plantar fasciitis, shin splints, hip pain, runner’s knee, tennis elbow, rotator cuff or labral injuries, wrist pain, or any other injury related to sport or training, we can help you get back to what you love you do.

In addition to treating injuries, preventative measures can be made in the form of functional screens, where we assess mobility, stability, and other kinetic chain contributors. When deficits are identified, specific corrective exercises and stretches can be prescribed in order to decrease injury risk. In addition, alterations can be made to the mechanics of your sport in order to decrease stress on the musculoskeletal system.

At Silverdale Sport & Spine, our methods of assessment and treatment are ideal for treating athletes. Since these activities are made up of repeated movements, the McKenzie Method is a very effective approach in treating associated injuries. In addition, other methods such as Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, Kinesiology Tape, and Functional Rehabilitation give us a wide variety of options to provide the athlete with the proper treatment suited to their individual sport and training schedule.

Don’t stay sidelined with an injury for longer than you have to. We would be happy to help you get back to your sport as fast as possible!
